I attended a health and wellness conference in Palm Springs, CA, and I was so excited to hear a Harvard trained doctor board certified in both Internal and Integrative medicine Dr. Robert Graham check him out at http://www.freshmednyc.com talk about self-care being the best form of Healthcare. I feel like we are at the tipping point with physicians and more doctors are prescribing movement, meditation, mindfulness, eliminating bad habits, focusing on food as medicine instead of surgery and prescription drugs. As a life coach and yoga instructor this is exciting for me, because I am seeing more clients being referred to me by their MD to help relieve back pain, anxiety, stress, sciatica discomfort, and general emotional and physical pain.
We live in a time where we have so much knowledge available to us and we must take responsibility and ownership for our physical and mental health. NO more excuses because without our mental and physical health we have nothing, so it’s not negotiable. If you want to look and feel your best and don’t know where to start, begin by doing these 4 things every day.
4 simple things to do everyday that will change the way you look and feel
- Drink 8 8oz glasses of water each day
- Sleep 7 hours per night
- Do 30 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise 5 days per week. The other 2 days go on a walk, do yoga or deep stretching.
- Eat mostly Whole Foods- Food can be healthy and yummy. Pinterest is a great resource to find whole food recipes. I like the 80/20 rule. Eat 80% whole foods and 20% other options so it’s an attainable plan and you don’t feel deprived.
